Requirements
  • Associate’s degree (electrical or technical) and six months turbine experience, or a high school diploma/GED and one-year wind turbine experience
  • Meet requirements of CEG’s Qualified Electrical Worker program
  • Climb towers unassisted up to 300 feet
  • Possess a valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Work with electrical wires and differentiate between color coded wires
  • Work safely in a wide range of adverse climates and environments
  • Travel as required
  • Use various hand tools
  • Work safely in a confined space
  • In-depth understanding of wind turbine components and maintenance methods
  • Communicate verbally and in writing
  • Perform mechanical and electrical equipment repairs
  • Create, edit or modify Microsoft Word and Excel documents
Responsibilities
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on wind turbines
  • Assist in all areas of site operations
  • Train and develop lower level operation and maintenance personnel
  • Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical component maintenance, repair, and replacement
  • Document work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures
  • Read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Use electrical test equipment for troubleshooting and testing
  • Operate and maintain a service vehicle
  • Maintain hand tools in good working order and well organized
  • Lead maintenance and troubleshooting crews
  • Perform balance of plant and switchyard work
  • Work a flexible on-call schedule
  • Safely perform LOTO and mentor lower level technicians in LOTO
