Perchwell is growing our team to build the workflow data platform for all residential real estate, a $4T industry (roughly 17% of US GDP) impacting the lives of every single American. As a complete market intelligence, search, and collaboration solution, we partner with forward-thinking MLS (multiple listing service) organizations and brokerages to drive the industry forward.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for an experienced backend engineer to take part in all stages of the product development and deployment lifecycle. As part of our small team of developers, you’ll collaborate with everyone on building out the team, process, and tech stack as we work on growing both our team, business and technology.

What you’ll work on:

• Work with legacy and new code at Perchwell to develop client features 
• Redesign how data enters our platform
• Drive large, complex projects autonomously, from technical design to launch
• Tackle complex architecture challenges, apply architectural standards and start using them on new projects
• Mature the existing tech platform to prepare it to scale with our future growth
• Help us define a healthy and effective development culture that balances the need to move quickly with planning for the future
• Be an example for thorough, meaningful code reviews
• Take ownership over QA and release cycles of your work as part of a you-build-it, you-run-it practice

Required for the role

• 6+ years of Ruby on Rails experience
• Relational databases
  • PostgreSQL specifically
  • Excellent SQL skills
  • Schema design
  • Partitioning and sharding
• Experience with message brokers like RabbitMQ
• Linux command line
• Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
• Good communication and ability to work cross functionally

In this role, you’ll work out of our New York City HQ in Manhattan (Soho) at least 3 days/week. 

Bonus Points if you have any of the following:

• AWS platform services and infrastructure
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Experience with Kotlin
• Early stage startups
• Real estate domain experience (nice to have)

Salary Range

To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base salary ranges for all US-based job postings regardless of state. Our ranges are based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including skills, job-related knowledge and depth of work experience. 

The base salary for this position is $95K-$195K + equity + benefits.
