New TRUCK TECH facility to create 50 jobs. Australia's leading independent heavy vehicle fleet maintenance company TRUCK TECH has opened a new state-of-the-art workshop in Sunshine West, Victoria. The new branch, located on one of Victoria's most important transport and logistic corridors, will deliver proactive, data-driven, safety-led maintenance solutions for fleets of 50 or more assets. TRUCK TECH expects to employ up to 50 specialised heavy vehicle mechanics, technicians, service coordinators and parts interpreters at the facility. The Sunshine West branch offers 5,000sqm of workshop space, a 10-tonne crane, 14 service bays, a wash bay, and the latest diagnostic and brake-testing technology. It joins the company's network along the east coast of Australia comprising five industry-leading fleet maintenance and repair centres, on-site client workshops, and over 70 mobile fleet service units. Barry Saad, TRUCK TECH founder and CEO, says the expansion into Sunshine West is part of a strategy to support growth, reliability and compliance of essential fleets operating across Melbourne's west and beyond. "This is a pivotal step in TRUCK TECH's growth and expansion, helping us to better serve our existing customers and offer services to new fleets by increasing the footprint of our national network," he says. "The range of capabilities for this site will be broad, and our talent will reflect that. Alongside the dozens of experienced mechanic roles at the new branch, a major focus for us will be increasing our apprentice intake to foster a new generation of skilled heavy vehicle technicians in Victoria." The new TRUCK TECH Sunshine West branch is located strategically near Port Melbourne, a major hub for domestic container pickup and delivery activity. The site is expected service key customers across food distribution, waste, public transport and general freight, helping to keep Victoria and Australia moving. Heading up the workshop will be newly appointed Branch Manager, Glenn Closter, who joins TRUCK TECH from Toll Group where he was workshop manager. Glenn is a qualified diesel mechanic with over 25 years' experience across the automotive and heavy vehicle sector. Closter says the Sunshine West facility combines state-of-the-art technology, tooling and safety systems with A-double access, creating one of the best purpose-built hubs for independent high-volume heavy vehicle repairs and maintenance anywhere in Australia. "Beyond the importance of the new site, our expansion represents significant investment in skilled jobs and workforce development in Victoria, providing opportunities for training and growth," he adds. HVIA's Talk the Torque e-newsletter provides essential updates on government policy, industry developments, and events, making it a key resource for the heavy vehicle industry.
