Requirements
  • A Master’s degree in Theology, Health Care Mission, Ethics, or a related field.
  • Ten years of experience in pastoral ministry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Catholic Church’s Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, typically acquired through Catholic health care leadership experience, formal education, mission formation programs, or significant involvement in Catholic ministry.
Responsibilities
  • Impart the mission, values, and vision of SSM Health and facilitate the integration of values in all activities.
  • Work collaboratively with regional and system Mission Integration staff.
  • Provide a credible mission perspective on hospital leadership teams and other leadership groups as appropriate.
  • Facilitate formation experiences for leaders, physicians, and staff.
  • Collaborate with Mission Integration staff to plan Mission Days.
  • Ensure an organized and active Mission Awareness Team in every entity.
  • Ensure organization of care for the caregiver in every hospital.
  • Lead mission-related activities, celebrations, and prayers.
  • Provide support and supervision of Ethics Committees and ensure committee practices reflect best practices.
  • Support decision-making processes throughout the ministries served.
  • Ensure organizational alignment with the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.
  • Assist in implementing the Pastoral Care strategy.
  • Support Pastoral Care staff.
  • Collaborate with regional Mission Integration staff on evaluation of services, development of Pastoral Care staff, and best practices in pastoral care services.
  • Collaborate with Regional Ministry Leadership and the System Vice President, Mission & Ethics, to cultivate relationships and communication with local ordinaries.
  • Lead collaboration with local parishes and faith communities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
