Requirements
  • A Master’s Degree in health, business, education or related field.
  • Must hold a current New York State Registered Nurse license.
  • 7-10 years of experience in nursing, involving perioperative and/or procedural services
  • Demonstrated progressive management experience, minimum 3-5 years
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization and with external customers and agencies.
  • Creates a collegial and collaborative environment among all members of the healthcare team.
  • Articulates clear expectations with staff and members of the patient care team.
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for decisions
  • Identifies problems, gathers data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions.

  • Provides administrative direction for formulation, interpretation, and administration of long-range policies, procedures and programs.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with medical staff leadership to achieve departmental goals and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintains policies, procedures, and systems in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Oversees day-to-day operations of Perioperative and Procedural Services, monitors staff performance, and ensures goal achievement.
  • Demonstrates leadership and promotes efficient use of clinical nursing research and education partnerships.
  • Markets and educates stakeholders about nursing roles and responsibilities to diverse audiences.
  • Evaluates program outcomes and modifies policies as needed.
  • Analyzes policy decisions for short- and long-term financial and organizational implications and prepares related reports.
  • Maintains operating budgets and capital budgets; manages budgets and accounts within approved limits; prepares analytical reports.
  • Monitors operating statistics and adjusts staffing, supplies, or capital expenditures as needed.
  • Selects qualified personnel, mentors, counsels and disciplines staff, and engages in succession planning for nurse leaders.
  • Establishes job standards and schedules in compliance with wage and hour laws and hospital policies.
  • Ensures appropriate license, certification, or registration compliance for personnel.
  • Coordinates education and in-service needs for department staff.
  • Provides for effective distribution and utilization of personnel based on data trends.
  • Participates in hospital committees and quality improvement activities; conducts rounds and staff meetings.
  • Maintains confidentiality and compliance with patient and hospital information according to policy.
  • Fosters patient safety through regulatory compliance, safety programs, and training.
