Requirements
  • An associate degree is required.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of case management experience or recognized equivalent education and experience, such as contact center, nursing, social service support, healthcare customer service, insurance reimbursement, or patient advocacy experience.
  • Well-developed communication, collaboration, problem-solving, data-entry, and computer-literacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently, remain goal-directed, and maintain strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment and maintain and train on job-related skills and activities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide an exceptional initial onboarding experience and long-term treatment-adherence support.
  • Share materials about diseases, diagnoses, community resources, and treatment support.
  • Maintain and communicate up-to-date knowledge of available resources, including approved external resources.
  • Place required welcome calls to patients to introduce the OneSource program and confirm requested support.
  • Communicate Benefit Investigation results with patients and healthcare providers and help interpret them as needed.
  • Inform patients of financial-support eligibility based on available programs.
  • Enroll eligible patients in Alexion financial-assistance programs or refer them to appropriate external support programs.
  • Conduct routine and year-end coverage-reverification outreach with patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and Alexion colleagues.
  • Connect patients with the Alexion patient community and inform them about disease-specific advocacy groups.
  • Assist patients in receiving required vaccinations through Alexion or other vaccination locations.
  • Navigate customer relationship management documentation and maintain required records during patient interactions to provide visibility into case status.
  • Immediately report adverse events during customer interactions in the Pharmacovigilance Event Reporting Tool.
  • Coordinate healthcare-provider needs throughout onboarding, from case creation and product delivery through ongoing product-use support.
  • Coordinate with healthcare-provider-facing roles and cross-functional partners to answer physician and office-staff questions and address issues.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers to confirm requested support or obtain missing information.
  • Consult and engage appropriate internal cross-functional partners to resolve barriers quickly.
  • Apply knowledge of the reimbursement process when communicating with internal and external stakeholders during insurance approval and work with field specialists on denial and appeal support.
  • Initiate the adherence program after onboarding and connect with patients through defined channels at product-specific touchpoints.
  • Educate prescribed patients and caregivers about preparing for and managing long-term adherence to an Alexion product or switching between Alexion products.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and caregivers during continued product administration.
  • Develop compliant, collaborative professional relationships with relevant internal and external customers, including patient education managers, field reimbursement managers, regional account managers, customer operations representatives, medical accounts, access specialists, specialty pharmacies, site-of-care staff, and office coordinators.
  • Escalate access issues by informing the appropriate stakeholders of actions needed to resolve pending items promptly.
  • Share responsibilities with Alexion members and external partners to deliver the target patient and healthcare-provider experience.
  • Participate in role-appropriate cross-functional activities, including hypercare calls, regional cross-functional meetings, and One Alexion meetings.
  • Participate in other project work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree is preferred.
  • Patient contact-center or patient-support-program experience.
  • Excellence in telephone communication and handling phone systems or experience in a call-recorded environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory components of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
  • Rare-disease experience.
  • Deep understanding of insurance coverage and reimbursement processes.
  • Familiarity with managed care, buy-and-bill therapy, and reimbursement for infused therapies.

Clinical Success For Neurimmune

Schlieren-based startup, Neurimmune, which develops drug candidates for central nervous system (CNS) and related protein aggregation diseases, has, in collaboration with its partner Alexion, advanced its drug candidate ALXN2220 into phase 3. This marks a significant step in the company’s journey to addressing the serious clinical condition ATTR-CM.  Transthyretin-mediated amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) is an underdiagnosed, systemic clinical condition that leads to progressive heart failure and high rate of fatality within four years from diagnosis. Despite recent advances in slowing disease progression, there is currently no treatment available to deplete cardiac ATTR amyloid and revert cardiac dysfunction. Schlieren-based startup, Neurimmune, which develops drug candidates for central nervous system (CNS) and related protein aggregation diseases including Alzheimer’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, frontotemporal dementia and ATTR cardiomyopathy, is currently testing a drug candidate, ALXN2220 (formerly NI006), a human antibody targeting ATTR Cardiomyopathy. In 2022, Neurimmune entered into an exclusive global collaboration and license agreement with Alexion, AstraZeneca’s Rare Disease group, for ALXN2220. Neurimmune is responsible for completion of the phase 1b clinical study on behalf of Alexion, with Alexion incurring certain trial costs. Aside from the phase 1b trial, Alexion is responsible for further clinical development, manufacturing, and commercialization as ALXN2220. The two companies have now initiated the phase 3 of the DepleTTR-CM clinical study to assess the efficacy and safety of ALXN2220 for the treatment of ATTR-CM

WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--VOYDEYA™ (danicopan) has been approved in the US as add-on therapy to ravulizumab or eculizumab for the treatment of extravascular hemolysis (EVH) in adults with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH).1 VOYDEYA is a first-in-class, oral, Factor D inhibitor developed as an add-on to standard-of-care ULTOMIRIS® (ravulizumab-cwvz) or SOLIRIS® (eculizumab) to address the needs of the approximately 10-20% of patients with PNH who experience clinically significant EVH while treated with a C5 inhibitor.2,3. The approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was based on positive results from the pivotal ALPHA Phase III trial. Ultomiris® (Ravulizumab-Cwvz) Approved In The Us For The Treatment Of Adults With Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (Nmosd)

WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ULTOMIRIS® (ravulizumab-cwvz) has been approved in the United States (US) as the first and only long-acting C5 complement inhibitor for the treatment of adult patients with anti-aquaporin-4 (AQP4) antibody-positive (Ab+) neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD).1. The approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was based on positive results from the CHAMPION-NMOSD Phase III trial, which were published in the Annals of Neurology.2 In the trial, ULTOMIRIS was compared to an external placebo arm from the pivotal SOLIRIS® PREVENT clinical trial. ULTOMIRIS met the primary endpoint of time to first on-trial relapse as confirmed by an independent adjudication committee. Zero relapses were observed among ULTOMIRIS patients with a median treatment duration of 73 weeks (relapse risk reduction: 98.6%, hazard ratio (95% CI): 0.014 (0.000, 0.103), p0.0001).2
