Role Overview:

This industrial hygiene (IH) role involves being outsourced full time to a specific Apex global icon client.  This position reports to a manufacturing facility in St. Louis, MO. Relocation assistance is available for this role. 

These role requires fairly experienced IH professional. The Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential is NOT required. Accordingly, relatively inexperienced IH’s who would require regular ongoing coaching and mentoring on IH strategy and tactics are not a fit for these roles. 

The incumbent will execute IH sampling projects and create reports, deliverables, and path-forward recommendations for management based on the sampling results.  This role will routinely involve working ‘on the shop floor’ with employees, collecting personal dosimetry samples.  

Over & above the shop floor sampling activities, the incumbent will also routinely be involved in ensuring the effective ongoing administration of a variety of IH programs.  Hence this role involves much more than simply being an IH Technician.  It has a significant Program Management / Project Management component as well. 

Perhaps most importantly, the incumbent will be a customer driven, energetic self-starter with the ability to work independently.  From an interpersonal skillset perspective, the ideal candidate will be outgoing enough to be comfortable engaging in conversations with client personnel of all levels – from shop floor touch labor to first line supervisors to management.

Your Responsibilities as an Industrial Hygienist:

• Providing comprehensive IH consulting services to clients, focused on identifying, assessing and risk-ranking employee exposures to injury or illness, and devising solution options aimed at mitigating injury/illness exposures.   
• In collaboration with Apex client relationship managers, coordinates and executes IH projects within set organizational procedures and standards.  
• In close routine collaboration with the external customer, implements and executes an agreed-to service plan.  Monitors and reports progress on plan completion as directed.  Works with numerous internal and external stakeholders in the interest of achieving desired overall project velocity.

What we're looking for:

• Associate degree required in a science, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree highly desired, preferably in science, engineering, or health & safety.
• 1+ years of hands-on IH sampling and program management experience desired.
• Experience in manufacturing-&-assembly industries / heavy industry settings a plus. 
• Experience in the aerospace and defense or automotive industry a further plus.  
• Possess knowledge of occupational IH technical subject matter and how to apply it in real-life settings.  Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the IH field.

• Strong interpersonal communication skills. 
• A great deal of self-starter initiative is required.  This position entails routine ongoing work with numerous customer stakeholders – all of whom need to be ‘satisfied’ with respect to project purpose, scope, and tactics. 
• Relies on experience and judgment paired with the overall work statement provided by the customer to plan and accomplish goals.
• Strong technical writing skills, the ability to successfully multi-task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices
• Experience with IH data management and IH report preparation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass an industry-standard background check required.
