Requirements
  • Associate degree required in a science, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field.
  • Possess knowledge of occupational IH technical subject matter and how to apply it in real-life settings. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the IH field.
  • Shop Floor IH Sampling / Monitoring practices & techniques: Chemicals; Noise; Ventilations Systems
  • Similar Exposure Groups (SEG) monitoring concepts
  • Broad spectrum OSHA Regulations understanding
  • IH Program Management and Compliance Assessment: Examples: Vertical Standards; Hazard Communication; Hearing Conservation; Respiratory Protection; Confined Space Entry
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • A great deal of self-starter initiative is required.
  • Relies on experience and judgment paired with the overall work statement provided by the customer to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Strong technical writing skills, the ability to successfully multi-task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
  • Experience with IH data management and IH report preparation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass an industry-standard background check required.
Responsibilities
  • The incumbent will execute IH sampling projects and create reports, deliverables, and path-forward recommendations for management based on the sampling results.
  • This role will routinely involve working ‘on the shop floor’ with employees, collecting personal dosimetry samples.
  • Over & above the shop floor sampling activities, the incumbent will also routinely be involved in ensuring the effective ongoing administration of a variety of IH programs.
  • This role involves much more than simply being an IH Technician. It has a significant Program Management / Project Management component as well.
  • Providing comprehensive IH consulting services to clients, focused on identifying, assessing and risk-ranking employee exposures to injury or illness, and devising solution options aimed at mitigating injury/illness exposures.
  • In collaboration with Apex client relationship managers, coordinates and executes IH projects within set organizational procedures and standards.
  • In close routine collaboration with the external customer, implements and executes an agreed-to service plan.
  • Monitors and reports progress on plan completion as directed.
  • Works with numerous internal and external stakeholders in the interest of achieving desired overall project velocity.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree highly desired, preferably in science, engineering, or health & safety.
  • 1+ years of hands-on IH sampling and program management experience desired.
  • Experience in manufacturing-&-assembly industries / heavy industry settings a plus.
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense or automotive industry a further plus.
