- A college diploma or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as peatland operations, environmental studies, forestry, agriculture, biology, natural sciences, geography, or forest technology.
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required for travel between the Kent and Miramichi sites.
- Experience in quality control, environmental work, or industrial production is an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to learn new data-collection software.
- Ability to work outdoors and independently, with organization, attention to detail, and an analytical and methodical approach.
- Perform peat sampling according to established procedures.
- Conduct quality inspections of harvest areas, storage piles, and finished products.
- Evaluate peat's physical characteristics, including moisture, structure, decomposition, particle size, contamination, and other quality criteria.
- Perform quality-control tests according to internal procedures.
- Identify anomalies that could affect product quality, communicate results to production teams, and recommend necessary adjustments.
- Operate a tractor to measure peat-pile temperatures.
- Participate in physical peat inventories, stock classification, and monthly inventory follow-ups.
- Participate in site environmental monitoring, field surveys, water-level monitoring, environmental sampling, and data collection for environmental projects.
- Support activities related to environmental certifications such as Veriflora.
- Use mobile data-collection applications; produce technical reports; and compile and analyze results in Microsoft Excel.
- Collaborate with supervisors and operators to maintain quality standards, attend operational meetings when required, propose continuous-improvement opportunities, and contribute to quality best practices.
- Follow company health and safety policies, participate in safety inspections, identify risks, help correct them, and promote a safe work culture.
