  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline
  • Basic proficiency in UNIX / Linux and Code management concepts (Git, Mercurial etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of routing and switching technologies
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot IP routing / switching technologies and protocols
  • Basic knowledge of coding in at least one language, e.g., Python, Perl, or C++
  • Ability to analyze situations and utilize troubleshooting skills, systems, and tools to solve low-to-medium complexity problems under pressure
  • Ability to develop relationships and communicate effectively within and across teams
  • Demonstrated initiative in developing solutions to identified improvement opportunities
  • Detail oriented, analytical, organization, and time management skills
  • Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship / co-op
  • In-depth experience with programming and scripting languages such as Python, Perl, bash, C++, Django, PHP, Shell, and knowledge of SQL, preferably for network or systems automation
  • Knowledge of physical sites (Data Center, Colo, POPs) including space and power
  • Understanding of Optical networking technologies including DWDM and OTN
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, network management / monitoring protocols and routing protocols such as IPv6, STP, VLAN, VRRP, LLDP, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, and MPLS
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS, RHCSA or equivalent academic course work or experience
  • Hands on experience with wireless networks, wireless telecom interfaces, implementation, and debugging
  • Knowledge of carrier backhaul including cellular, mmWave, microwave, core networks, WIFI access points, or WIFI ISP/MNO deployments
  • Experience with design and implementation of network operations systems
  • High aptitude and knowledge in technology-agnostic approach to engineering
  • Ability to lift/move 30-40 pounds on a daily basis
  • Support and lead network deployment projects expanding Metas production edge, wireless, labs and backbone network infrastructure
  • Work cross-functionally to plan and execute on network projects
  • Manage operational incidents and participate in troubleshooting network issues
  • Perform network maintenance including hardware and software upgrades, migrations, decommissioning, and capacity upgrades
  • Build and optimize new processes and automation to improve execution efficiency
  • Develop automated methods to detect, mitigate and remediate network events
  • Proactively contribute to documentation, automation, and processes as they evolve
  • Use internal tools and scripts to configure, monitor, and repair network events
  • Own small projects supporting internal process engineering efforts
