Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing program and be licensed as a registered nurse.
  • Be certified as a Nurse Practitioner through an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Have a concentration and specialty track in Adult/Geriatrics and/or Family Nurse Practitioner, although other specialty tracks may be considered based on experience and business needs.
  • Hold active certification as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Have prior advanced practice provider experience in a psychiatric or mental health role.
  • Work 40 hours per week in a full-time position.
  • Adhere to coding and billing compliance requirements, including timely submission of billable charges.
  • Comply with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies, procedures, the Compliance and Ethics Program, Code of Conduct, Federal False Claims Act, and HIPAA.
  • Comply with the organization's time-off and on-call policies.
Responsibilities
  • Provide mental health primary and urgent care services to nursing center residents in collaboration with other medical providers.
  • Assess patients' health status and diagnose patients.
  • Interpret laboratory results and diagnostic findings.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments and provide ongoing medication-management follow-up appointments.
  • Perform and provide psychotherapy for the treatment of mental health conditions.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care-planning process.
  • Prescribe and manage appropriate medications for mental health conditions.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Complete required healthcare documentation in accordance with established policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
  • Follow evidence-based practice guidelines.
  • Consult physicians regarding care outside the scope of practice.
  • Work with leadership and center teams to improve psychiatric-care quality measures.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing education, current certification, and standardized care guidelines.
  • Support the development of nursing staff in collaboration with the Center Nursing Executive.
  • Partner with center leadership and nurse educators to identify and meet clinical education priorities.
  • Serve as a clinical expert for nursing staff and provide targeted clinical education when needed.
  • Participate in center-based quality initiatives related to residents' mental health needs.
  • Ensure patients and families receive high-quality, compassionate service that recognizes their needs and rights.
  • Perform other duties as requested and support organizational clinical initiatives.
