Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant arts or related discipline, or equivalent professional training or certifications, is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of directly applicable professional experience is required.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in several relevant arts-support competencies, including communication and collaboration, arts operations and logistics, role-specific arts support, relevant technologies and systems, professional standards and best practices, proactive problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Employees in Production or Preparator shifts must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • All positions may require employees to stand for extended periods.

  • Applicants for Marketing & Communications roles must present a portfolio of relevant work.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute specialized skills to the planning, execution, and evaluation of Brown programs and events.
  • Work within assigned Brown Arts Institute teams, including Creative Technologies, Exhibitions, Marketing & Communications, Production, Programming, or Visitor Services.
  • Operate and maintain digital media equipment such as 2D/3D printers, recording studios, and podcasting tools when assigned to Creative Technologies.
  • Perform exhibition preparation tasks including art handling, installation, de-installation, and basic fabrication when assigned to Exhibitions.
  • Create outreach content through copywriting, graphic design, photography, and videography when assigned to Marketing & Communications.
  • Support live performances through audio, lighting, carpentry, stage management, or video when assigned to Production.
  • Perform administration, artist services, or company management within an arts presenting or producing context when assigned to Programming.
  • Provide house management, box office operations, or crowd management for events when assigned to Visitor Services.
  • Use industry-standard technologies and systems pertinent to the assigned area of expertise.
  • Apply professional standards and best practices within the assigned area of arts specialization.
  • Identify and resolve issues proactively, work independently with minimal supervision, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Lead small teams, manage specific projects based on expertise and operational needs, and train other ArtsCrew members in basic skills.
  • Remain available for project-specific, on-call work with flexible scheduling based on operational needs and individual availability.
  • Work primarily in Brown Arts Institute venues, with occasional assignments elsewhere on Brown University's campus and on projects off campus with partner organizations.
