About the Role
We are seeking an experienced QA Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our Quality Assurance team. This role requires someone capable of driving automation initiatives from the ground up while also serving as a mentor and trainer for the QA team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in API automation, Postman, SQL data validation, and the ability to work independently on critical testing efforts. While the primary focus will be automation, this role also includes performing manual testing when necessary to ensure overall product quality.

Key Responsibilities
- Automation Framework Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks from scratch using modern tools and best practices. (Python is preferred, JavaScript and .NET would be nice to have).
- API Test Automation: Create and maintain automated tests for REST and GraphQL APIs.
- Postman Expertise: Develop and manage comprehensive API test collections in Postman, including automated execution and integration with CI/CD pipelines.
- Data Validation: Write and execute complex SQL queries to validate backend data integrity, transformations, and reporting accuracy.
- Test Strategy & Execution: Contribute to the overall test strategy, including test planning, design, execution, and reporting.
- CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to ensure continuous quality and fast feedback.
- Manual Testing: Perform manual testing when automation is not applicable, ensuring complete coverage across functional areas.
- Collaboration: Work closely with developers, QA analysts, product owners, and business stakeholders to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and ensure test coverage.
- Leadership & Training: Act as a QA lead, providing technical guidance and training the QA team on automation frameworks, API testing strategies, and best practices.
- Independent Execution: Take ownership of solo QA efforts, from planning through execution, with minimal oversight.

Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a QA Engineer, SDET, or similar role.
- Proven experience standing up automation frameworks from scratch.
- Demonstrated QA leadership experience and ability to mentor/train QA teams.
- Strong hands-on experience with API automation testing tools (e.g., Postman, REST Assured, Playwright).
- Proficiency in programming/scripting with Python and/or JavaScript.
- Solid understanding of SQL and experience with complex data validation.
- Experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with Docker for containerized testing.
- Experience with Gherkin (BDD) for test design and collaboration.
- Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, test design, and defect management.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and drive efforts to completion.
- Exposure to Power BI for validation of data/reporting outputs.
- Familiar with load, stress, and performance testing using tools such as JMeter, Locust, or similar
