Requirements
  • Must have a high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • College degree and/or a paralegal certificate from a school approved by the ABA (preferred)
  • 2-5 years of foreign filing and/or U.S. patent prosecution experience (preferred)
  • Trademark law experience a plus.
  • Design law patent experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of USPTO rules and practices.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to seamlessly perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with staff and clients
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, organizational skills, and the ability to be proactive.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for supporting the Firm’s foreign and US patent procurement practice including:
  • filing PCT applications and US domestic and national phase application;
  • preparation and e-filing of office action responses, information disclosure statements, petitions, issue fees, and other patent prosecution documents;
  • timely seeking foreign filing licenses, and instructing overseas attorneys on PCT nationalizations and Paris Convention filings, working statements;
  • communicating with associates throughout the world;
  • updating the status of patents and patent applications, and inspection of electronic patent file histories;
  • filing sequence listings;
  • preparing other patent forms and correspondence;
  • preparing and sending client correspondence, and
  • working with timekeepers to review work and ensure docketing deadlines are met.
