Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) certificate, plus six months to one year of experience in accounting or auditing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer, scanner, and other office equipment.
  • Skill in problem solving, decision making, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, County employees, and the general public.
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.
  • Must maintain an effective attendance record and pattern.
  • Must clear a pre-employment physical and pre-employment drug screen test.
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek.
  • Ability to lift and carry 10-20 pounds occasionally and perform the stated office-related physical activities.
Responsibilities
  • Provide clerical support to the Accounts Payable department.
  • Process and scan accounts payable invoices and vouchers.
  • Enter and update data using spreadsheet or database applications.
  • Review Accounts Payable electronic correspondence and distribute invoices accordingly.
  • Perform Accounts Payable data entry, including entering, scanning, filing, and updating data using spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Establish and maintain complex reports and filing systems using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Prepare documentation for outside requests for Tax ID or tax exemption.
  • Communicate with internal County staff concerning discrepancies and processing issues.
  • Provide backup support to other Accounting Clerks.
  • Process deposit forms, requisitions, and distribution logs.
  • Print, sort, and issue checks, including payroll distribution for the County.
  • Collect, receipt, and process cash or check payments using a computer cashiering system.
  • Provide backup receptionist support by greeting and directing the general public and County staff.
  • Answer and route telephone calls using discretion and tact.
  • Respond to general and complex questions and office complaints.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail.
  • Monitor office equipment operation, troubleshoot failures, and call for repairs.
  • May supervise, lead, or train administrative or clerical support personnel.
  • Perform related duties as required.
