Requirements
  • Vocational or technical training in nursing from a professional accredited practical nursing program.
  • A Licensed Practical Nurse license is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • One to three years of related work experience is required.
  • Ability to interact with patients and families in a multicultural setting.
  • Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and spoken English with medical center staff, patients, families, and external customers.
  • Ability to provide patient care across neonatal, youth, young adult, middle-age, and elderly age groups.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and to stand or move around for most of the shift.
  • Influenza vaccination is required as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Implement the plan of care defined by the patient's care team in an ambulatory setting.
  • Administer medications as directed by clinical staff, evaluate and document patient responses, report adverse effects, and assist with procedures or treatments.
  • Perform administrative patient-care functions, including follow-up phone calls, appointment scheduling, preauthorization forms, prescription renewals, and faxing information to appropriate sources.
  • Provide health teaching and assist with patient education that is culturally, linguistically, and educationally appropriate.
  • Maintain patient education materials in the clinical area.
  • Help maintain patient flow, prioritize care according to patient needs, alert clinicians to patients requiring immediate care, and assist with walk-ins and rebooking cancellations.
  • Work collaboratively with registered nurses and practice or medical assistant staff to meet patient-care needs.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to problem identification and resolution.
  • Follow hospital and nursing-department standards, policies, and procedures.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
