  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience, is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of construction management or related experience is required.
  • Experience managing multiple construction activities and crews simultaneously is required.
  • A strong understanding of civil construction methods, site development, grading, and underground utility installation is required.
  • Knowledge of construction safety, quality, scheduling, and planning processes is required.
  • Microsoft Office skills are required.
  • Strong customer service skills are required.
  • Effective communication, active listening, and openness to diverse input and feedback are required.
  • Ability to travel up to 100% is required.
  • The candidate must pass a pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • The candidate must maintain a valid driver's license and required endorsements.

  • The candidate must complete and maintain required safety certification and testing annually.
  • The candidate must meet the physical requirements, including walking on uneven surfaces, using ladders or stairs, kneeling, bending, squatting, and tolerating outdoor weather, loud noise, and heavy or moving machinery.
  • The candidate must pass color and vision examinations and distinguish required auditory signals.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management of civil construction activities and task assignments for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system projects.
  • Collaborate with project management and other departments to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
  • Work with project managers to budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and the general working environment.
  • Ensure construction documents are reviewed for completeness, constructability, and field execution requirements.
  • Lead the creation, review, and updating of project schedules and three-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Oversee civil construction activities including site preparation, grading, excavation, drainage, access roads, foundations, and underground utility installation.
  • Develop and implement site utilization plans and establish crew sizes to support project requirements.
  • Lead pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings.
  • Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions as needed.
  • Implement Herzog's Safety Without Compromise program.
  • Ensure civil work is completed according to project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and schedule expectations.
  • Develop relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders to support successful project execution.
  • Regularly engage in, participate in, and promote Herzog's culture and essential behaviors.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience managing civil construction activities for utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or heavy civil projects is preferred.
