Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least five years of work-related experience is required.
  • A valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record compliant with the University of Wyoming Driving for University Business SAP is required.
  • Applicants must provide the average hours worked per week for all current and previous positions.
  • The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • The candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions on campus.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer comprehensive career-related student services programs for departments within the College of Arts and Sciences and support college-directed initiatives.
  • Provide strategic vision and operational leadership for College of Arts and Sciences career services, including programming oversight, staff growth and supervision, administration, fiscal planning and management, and metrics.
  • Provide direct assistance to students through advising and career counseling, conduct follow-up sessions, and provide information through workshops, orientations, and other formats.
  • Provide educational programming to student organizations and classes to support career readiness and job-search education, including resume and interview preparation and effective job-search techniques.
  • Work with existing and new employers to establish, maintain, and grow employment opportunities for students.
  • Develop technology- and social-media-based avenues to disseminate career information and job and internship opportunities to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Cooperate with the University of Wyoming Foundation on establishing employer relations and collaborate with career services professionals across the university.
  • Coordinate courses and teach, as needed.
  • Coordinate travel with student trips within Wyoming and across the nation, as needed, to provide career development and networking opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison and establish and develop effective relationships with students, faculty, department heads, deans, and other on- and off-campus stakeholders.
  • Integrate faculty advising into the overall program concept and provide oversight through specific college programs.
  • Negotiate solutions to complex problems and deal with difficult situations and people.
  • Provide customer service in all aspects of the position.
  • Provide training to campus staff, peer advisors, and/or interns in advising functions, as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in training and other professional development activities.
  • Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational goals and objectives.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in career services, student affairs, workforce development, recruiting, employer relations, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience advising or coaching undergraduate and/or graduate students on career exploration, career readiness, internships, and job-search strategies is preferred.
  • Experience working with students in the arts, humanities, and/or social sciences is preferred.
  • Experience cultivating employer partnerships and career pathways is preferred.
  • Experience with project management is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are preferred.
