Responsibilities
  • Lead a security culture, including crisis response, a strong safety environment, and crowd-management planning, while supporting guests and team members.
  • Implement daily and weekly Assets Protection workload priorities to support business priorities and deliver goals.
  • Respond to external and internal theft incidents and prevent future theft.
  • Implement strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud and apprehend individuals attempting to cause a loss in accordance with Target policy and leadership guidance.
  • Partner with, educate, and support store business leaders on operational shortage priorities.
  • Lead a team of hourly team members, including interviewing, developing, evaluating, and retaining talent.
  • Deliver guest-experience commitments and create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience.
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers guest-experience commitments and consistent operations.
  • Observe team performance, provide feedback, hold team members accountable, and recognize strong guest-experience performance.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve results, align the team on appropriate behaviors and execution, celebrate wins, and elevate the guest experience.
  • Support total-store sales and profitability by ensuring products are in stock and available to guests, and welcome and engage guests at the front of the store and on the salesfloor.
  • Validate physical-security and safety processes, participate in store responses and emergency-crisis situations, and create security plans for in-store events.
  • Support store leaders in educating teams on emergency preparedness and physical-security procedures.
  • Develop, coach, and lead team members to elevate their skills and expertise under the direction of the direct leader.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and support the direct leader in talent planning and performance management.
  • Identify theft and shortage trends in the store.
  • Identify shortage risks in key areas and support store and direct leaders in developing tactics to reduce shortage and drive profitable sales.
  • Work a schedule aligned with guest and business needs, including early morning, overnight, evening, and weekend shifts.
  • Develop team schedules and adjust them based on security and theft trends with leader validation.
  • Own the prevention, identification, and resolution of external theft incidents, including merchandise-protection budgeting; resolve theft and conduct apprehensions while following policy and procedures.
  • Initiate, investigate, and resolve internal investigations as directed by the AP leader or direct leader.
  • Educate store leadership on merchandise-protection best practices and audit execution with key partners.
  • Implement and follow up on operational changes directed by the direct leader.
  • Support the direct leader in educating and supporting store teams on operational shortage priorities.
  • Order merchandise-protection devices as needed, manage the allocated budget, and follow Merchandise Protection Best Practice guidance on Workbench.
  • Communicate Assets Protection priorities to the team, peers, and leadership.
  • Build relationships of trust and accountability with the leader and Store Director.
  • Maintain relationships inside and outside Target, including district and store leaders and law enforcement.
  • Ensure teams and tactics maintain Target's reputation.
  • Collaborate with retail-organization partners to analyze industry trends and enhance security for guests and team members.
  • Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team at the direction of the direct leader.
  • Support team onboarding and learning, and close knowledge and skill gaps through training and experience.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct and compliance, lead the team accordingly, and hold others accountable.
  • Hold team members accountable to expectations set by the direct leader.
  • Maintain all required training.
  • Serve as first responder for in-store safety incidents, including security and weather incidents, by executing Target procedures and best practices.
  • Lead and demonstrate execution of best practices through team onboarding, learning, development, coaching, and team interactions.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches and creating equitable experiences.
  • Lead and demonstrate a safety culture by modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards with store leaders, holding the team accountable to safety expectations, assisting with incident response, and reporting and investigating injuries accurately and promptly.
  • Execute safety-program management routines such as monthly safety meetings and observations.
  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target's interests.
  • Model physical-security processes to enhance the in-store security culture.
  • Support merchandise-protection strategies across the total store, including storage and application as directed by best practices.
  • Address store needs, including emergencies and regulatory visits.
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.

  • Previous retail and/or loss-prevention experience is preferred but not required.
