Requirements
  • An Associate of Science degree in Physical Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant is required.
  • A current license or certification in the state of Indiana is required.
  • At least one year of experience in a rehabilitation setting serving the same age or type of patient population as the facility is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the therapy team and manage the day-to-day operations of the therapy department.
  • Supervise therapy staff and coordinate RUG management.
  • Ensure rehabilitation services comply with company and facility policies, state and federal regulations, and professional organization standards.
  • Coordinate resident screening programs for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology.
  • Advocate for residents’ rehabilitation needs.
  • Coordinate attendance at care-plan and departmental meetings.
  • Act as a liaison among the therapy department, facility administrator, and nursing staff.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end billing.
  • Coordinate therapist schedules and arrange as-needed staffing.
  • Communicate therapy schedules and changes to administration and nursing staff.
  • Coordinate execution of the Restorative Program with nursing staff and the therapy department.
  • Prepare the rehabilitation department for a deficiency-free state survey and represent the department during the survey process.
  • Complete the Vertis guide to survey twice annually.
  • Train staff in company and facility policies and procedures.
  • Assist in identifying the therapy needs of the resident population.
  • Lead the therapy team in implementing clinical programs.
  • Communicate pertinent information from company and facility management to the therapy team.
  • Assist the Regional Manager with performance reviews, applicant interviews, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist with orientation of new employees and contract therapists.
  • Support team development by encouraging individual growth, recognizing accomplishments, and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Analyze team productivity levels and facilitate achievement of company expectations.
  • Assist the Regional Manager in analyzing key monthly operational data.
  • Provide direct patient care using the principles, methods, materials, and equipment of the incumbent’s discipline.
