Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Engineering (Mechanical, Medical, Mechatronics), Industrial Design or similar)
  • 5+ years experience in product design engineering (ideally within machine, small appliance or materials handling fields)
  • Experience in designing automation products with electro-mechanical components including motors, gears/pulleys and sensors
  • Experience in part/component detailed design (not just choosing from a catalogue) and tolerance stackups
  • Out-of-the-box thinking and creativity
  • Skilled at developing 2D drawings for manufacture, knowledge of GD&T desirable
  • Understanding of materials and manufacturing techniques
  • New product development experience from conceptual design through to production
  • A strong communicator (written and verbal), capable of building effective relationships with all stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams at all levels of the organisation
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent critical thinking, diagnosis and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrable ability to work autonomously and consistently deliver results within agreed timeframes
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the delivery of innovative, high-quality automation solutions including concept design, detailed CAD models (PTC Creo), 2D manufacturing drawings, prototype build, testing and validation, and transfer to manufacturing
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, customers and suppliers on new product development and support of the existing product range
  • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge with the team
