Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least five years of demonstrated experience programming CNC machines to tight tolerances is required.
  • Proficiency with CNC software such as Mastercam X, Haas GL software, and Fanuc-controlled CNC equipment is required.
  • Full understanding of G-code and M-code functions is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, with demonstrated ability to produce prototype parts from blueprints or drawings, is required.
  • Strong mathematical skills in trigonometry and geometry are required.
  • The role requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • The role requires the ability to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Responsibilities
  • Write and revise multiple-axis CNC programs for new products and engineering or program changes, maintain current revisions, and complete setup and operation of CNC vertical mills, horizontal mills, and lathes.
  • Lead programming efforts for complex components across five-axis machining centers and multi-axis CNC equipment.
  • Develop, refine, and implement manufacturing processes for all new product introduction parts in collaboration with product development and engineering teams.
  • Use CAM packages such as Mastercam and CAMplete, and CAD tools including SolidWorks and Creo (Pro/Engineer).
  • Create efficient toolpaths for equipment including Haas, DMG Mori, Okuma, and other platforms.
  • Program and operate machines with Fanuc controls, and work with Heidenhain and Siemens controls when applicable.
  • Ensure departmental programs are current and backed up on the network.
  • Perform complex setups on a variety of CNC equipment using advanced tooling.
  • Read and interpret engineering or customer blueprints.
  • Visually or mechanically inspect parts for defects, record in-process inspection results, and notify the lead or supervisor of deviations.
  • Perform simple preventative maintenance functions, including changing coolants, lubricants, and filters, and update preventative maintenance schedules as needed.
  • Enter data into statistical process control software, interpret basic control charts and capability studies, and identify abnormal variation and out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Work with quality personnel and department inspectors to address machining-related questions.
  • Serve as a resource in resolving complex technical problems and provide equipment and process-operation training or cross-training while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Perform leadership duties in the absence of the lead or supervisor when necessary.
  • Lead or participate on process-improvement teams.
