We are looking Lead Software Engineers who are excited to apply their talents to delivering cutting-edge solutions to our customer’s challenging projects. Our applications are primarily built in a Linux environment with JavaScript, React, Node.js, and Redux, Python, and C++ and Unreal. The ideal candidate will contribute as a fulltime, hands-on developer while leading a team of ~5 software engineers, coordinating tasking and activities to meet program objectives. They are experienced and comfortable providing mentoring, coaching and feedback to individual team members. Additionally, they are excited to contribute to the overall program design and architecture.
Position location is on-site at prime’s office in Boulder, Colorado 5 days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Use Agile methodologies to manage team development tasks and milestones to meet program objectives
- Ensure that the software development process is efficient and effective.
- Contribute to the overall program design and architecture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as software architects, program managers, designers, and other engineers to design, develop and test software solution that meet the needs of our customers.
- Analyze user requirements and develop software specifications.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that follows software development best practices.
- Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to other engineers.
- Debug and fix issues.
- Develop and execute test plans to ensure software quality.
- Deploy software applications to production environments.
- Maintain and update software applications to ensure they meet user needs and remain secure.
- Develop and maintain documentation.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in technology.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Clearance Required: Secret
- This position requires the ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance. Interim or Active DOD Secret clearance or higher is preferred.
- Due to the clearance requirement, U.S. Citizenship is required
- Candidate also must agree to participate in a background screen
- MS degree in Computer Science or similar relevant field (or a BS degree with 2 additional years of experience)
- Minimum of 8+ years’ experience specifically in a software engineering role
- 3+ years in a lead software engineering role including mentoring, coaching, and providing feedback to individual team members.
- Professional, hands-on, development experience with two or more of the following languages/tools: JavaScript/Typescript, React, Unreal, C++ 21 or higher, Python.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools and methodologies.

- Building backend web services and/or native applications
- Automated testing (Playwright)
- Containerization (eg: Docker, Kubernetes)
- Database design (eg: Postgres, NoSQL)
- Messaging middleware (eg: ZeroMQ, KAFKA)
- Microservices architecture
- Atlassian tools
- Interim or Active DoD SECRET security clearance or higher
Salary Range: In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $140,000 - $220,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, and education / certifications.
