Job Description
Position Summary
This position will perform centralized payroll functions for State of Oklahoma agencies and institutions of higher education. The State centrally processes payroll using several period schedules and different systems for state agencies and institutions of higher education. The nature of this job requires an individual who is detailed-oriented, can stay on task, and understands the flow of payroll.
Position Responsibilities
- Create payroll processing schedules for distribution to state agencies.
- Process time calculations and open time periods in Workday HCM.
- Begin and monitor retro and payroll results in Workday HCM.
- Review and audit submitted payroll documents prior to completion.
- Contact and assist agency officials and payroll processors with documentation.
- Complete, settle and run integrations for payrolls in Workday HCM.
- Complete payrolls for state institutions of higher education in PeopleSoft Financials.
- Cancel payroll warrants for state agencies in Workday HCM.
- Provide end of day payroll results to other central teams.
- Document and maintain centralized procedures.
- Maintain payroll claims as required by the State Records Retention schedule.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality of employee information.
Education and Experience
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, human resources, or closely related field; or
- five years of payroll experience; or
- an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Previous experience with Workday payroll processing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Decision making ability for moderate impact items.
- Effective communication skills to communicate with all levels of agency employees.
Valued Skills and Experience
- 2 - 4 years of Workday payroll experience preferred, with emphasis on completing and settling payrolls.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday.
