Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kansas; additional state licensure is a plus
  • 8-12 years of engineering experience with broad knowledge of transportation design and strong technical skills in highway design
  • Experience with State DOT and/or local municipality/county design projects
  • Proficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Microsoft Office products
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, self-starter, demonstrated organization skills, team player, and willingness to learn
Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from concept development to final design, including construction support
  • Develop plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and prepare final bid packages
  • Establish working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managers
  • Manage and mentor junior engineers on project assignments
  • Attend internal and external meetings with the team
  • Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subconsultants, and client managers
  • Coordinate the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, of subconsultants and internal technical and support staff
  • Participating in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
  • Lead projects and complete tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines
  • Project QA/QC
  • Assist project managers with various other tasks
  • Ability to multi-task and manage workload on various projects simultaneously
  • Initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
