Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Agriculture-Business, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • A minimum of 7 years of related experience as a Certified Appraiser.
  • A Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and compliance requirements specific to the financial industry and Farm Credit in Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and customer relationship management programs.
  • Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of client service principles and practices.
  • Advanced skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Advanced skill in applying appraisal concepts.
  • Advanced skill in maintaining confidential information.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Apply approved appraisal practices and procedures to produce credible, reliable, and well-supported value conclusions for real estate being appraised.
  • Produce concise reports supporting the market value of properties.
  • Complete monthly and annual benchmark studies to support lending functions.
  • Develop and grow an external book of business.
  • Provide leadership, industry expertise, and collaboration for complex or highly specialized appraisals.
  • Mentor and provide resources to less experienced team members.
  • Physically inspect subject properties and sales to verify property attributes when applicable.
  • Document pertinent property characteristics, including size, condition, location, and improvements, to ensure accurate representation.
  • Perform market data collection and analysis and maintain an accurate sales database.
  • Research building cost and depreciation characteristics for improved sales.
  • Provide market synopses, including property sales information and market insights, to other departments and potential clients to aid valuation decisions.
  • Attend education events, training events, and professional meetings to advance professional and technical skills and remain current on required licenses.
  • Complete continuing education appraisal classes to maintain a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license.
  • Provide training and mentoring to Associate Appraisers and Appraisers.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Accredited Rural Appraiser or MAI designation.
