Requirements
  • A Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or graduation from an approved Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse program.
  • A current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN/LVN in the state.
  • The ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, including technical procedures and policy and procedure manuals.
  • The ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to residents.
  • The ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant action.
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, and the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing care facilities.
  • Leadership and supervisory ability, including willingness to supervise other personnel.
  • The ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for quality care.
  • The ability to move intermittently throughout the workday and push, pull, move, or carry at least 25 pounds for at least 50 feet.
  • The ability to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile people.
  • A current CPR certification.
  • The ability to maintain required continuing education and licensing and remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants in compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and facility requirements.
  • Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants and ensure nursing personnel follow facility policies, procedures, job descriptions, and nursing service procedures.
  • Plan shift services, programs, activities, staffing, and work assignments with nursing and support personnel.
  • Review and recommend revisions to policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, and nursing procedures.
  • Prepare written and oral reports and recommendations concerning shift activities.
  • Coordinate nursing services with resident services and other departments.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs, facility surveys, discharge planning, and resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Complete medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, census reports, charge slips, charts, and other administrative records.
  • Protect resident health information, user credentials, and facility information systems, and report suspected unauthorized access or disclosure.
  • Complete admission, transfer, discharge, accident, incident, and routine charting documentation.
  • Receive and transcribe physician orders, maintain resident charts, document care and resident responses, and report discrepancies.
  • Prepare and administer physician-ordered medications and treatments while verifying resident identity and medication accuracy.
  • Maintain medication, narcotic, supply, and equipment inventories and report discrepancies or shortages.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, determine shift staffing needs, and recommend personnel actions to the Nurse Supervisor.
  • Provide leadership to assigned nursing personnel, conduct rounds, monitor work assignments, and address staffing, performance, complaints, and grievances.
  • Ensure nursing assistants and trainees meet training and supervision requirements.
  • Receive and give nursing reports at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Inform nursing personnel about admissions and prepare rooms for new residents.
  • Orient residents and families, make physician rounds, arrange diagnostic and therapeutic services, and consult physicians regarding resident care.
  • Review charts, treatments, medication orders, diets, care plans, and resident conditions; ensure care follows resident wishes and care plans.
  • Provide or supervise nursing procedures including catheterization, tube feedings, suctioning, dressing changes, colostomy and drainage-bag care, specimen collection, vital-sign measurement, and range-of-motion exercises.
  • Monitor seriously ill residents and notify physicians and next of kin of accidents, incidents, or changes in condition.
  • Carry out restorative and rehabilitative programs and assist with resident transportation and discharge arrangements.
  • Follow post-mortem procedures and notify families and funeral homes when required.
  • Develop, plan, conduct, and schedule in-service training and orientation for nursing personnel.
  • Attend required continuing education and facility training programs, including occupational safety, tuberculosis, privacy, abuse prevention, infection control, and emergency preparedness training.
  • Monitor safety, sanitation, hand hygiene, infection control, personal protective equipment, fire safety, and disaster preparedness practices.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary nursing work areas and resident care areas and ensure safe operation of nursing equipment.
  • Recommend and maintain adequate supplies, medications, equipment, personal protective equipment, and material safety data sheets.
  • Review resident care plans daily, identify needed changes, and assist with Minimum Data Set assessments and care-plan revisions.
  • Provide data to the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee and report suspected fraud or false billing.

PACS Group acquires Alaska care facility, plans 150-bed skilled nursing centre by 2028

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
