Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming calls from patients and address their inquiries, concerns, and requests in a courteous and empathetic manner.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments across various ophthalmology subspecialties.
  • Verify patient information and obtain necessary medical information to create a comprehensive medical advisory.
  • Update electronic health records accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide accurate and detailed information about healthcare services, procedures, and insurance coverage to patients.
  • Advance medical knowledge to understand diagnoses for efficient triaging and scheduling.
  • Handle patient complaints, issues, and concerns professionally and resolve them to the patient's satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with referring doctors' offices, external medical professionals, and internal departments to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintain cohesive physician schedules for affiliated practices and locations.
  • Document call interactions and relevant patient information accurately in the call center software system.
  • Adhere to confidentiality standards and maintain patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing training on medical procedures, policies, and call center software.
  • Achieve and exceed call center performance metrics, including call quality, first-call resolution, and patient satisfaction scores.
  • Handle high call volumes and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Process and transfer calls accurately and efficiently using a multiline phone system.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
  • Triage experience is preferred.
  • An associate's degree or certification in healthcare administration is a plus.
  • Previous ophthalmology experience is a plus.

Cencora buys EyeSouth Partners' retina business for $1.1B to expand Retina Consultants of America

Cencora has signed a definitive agreement to acquire EyeSouth Partners' retina business for $1.1 billion. The affiliated retina physicians will join Cencora's Retina Consultants of America, a leading management services organisation. The pharmaceutical solutions company expects the acquisition to be slightly accretive to its adjusted diluted earnings per share in the first twelve months following closure, net of financing costs. The transaction requires regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Cencora's reaffirmed fiscal 2026 financial guidance does not currently include the transaction closing within that fiscal year. BofA Securities served as lead financial advisor to Cencora, whilst Jefferies advised EyeSouth Partners, a portfolio company of Olympus Partners.
