Pediatric Gastroenterology Advanced Endoscopist Position in Charleston, South Carolina
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Pediatric Advanced Endoscopist to join the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology within its nationally recognized Department of Pediatrics in coastal South Carolina. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and advance the field of pediatric interventional endoscopy as the only pediatric specialist in the state of South Carolina. The Gastroenterology & GI Surgery program is repeatedly recognized on the US News & World Report Best Children’s Hospital Rankings, and it is the largest and most comprehensive program in the region. The program maintains an active consultation service for children with gastrointestinal, nutritional, and liver problems. We celebrate our established and vibrant pediatric gastroenterology fellowship program. The Pediatric Gastroenterology Division performs over 13,000 outpatient visits, 2,000 inpatient consultations, and 1,200 procedures annually with an emphasis on excellence in clinical care. The team is the only pediatric liver transplant center and motility center in South Carolina. We also collaborate with many other specialties at MUSC Children’s Health to treat patients holistically.
In 2020, MUSC Children’s Health opened the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion, a 100,000 square foot, 250-bed, state-of-the-art building that is transforming the delivery of fetal, women’s and children’s care in the region. Supporting the outstanding clinical care at our Children’s Hospital and Women’s Pavilion is the Charles P. Darby Children’s Research Institute, the largest pediatric research facility in the Carolinas, and one of only 15 like it in the country.

Ideal Candidates:
· BC/BE Pediatrician who has completed an accredited Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship and advanced fellowship training in Pediatric Interventional Endoscopy or equivalent experience
· Perform a wide range of advanced interventional endoscopic procedures in pediatric patients, utilizing cutting-edge techniques and equipment, including but not limited to:
· Committed to MUSC’s educational missions and enthusiastic about teaching
· Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, with interest in program development opportunities
Opportunity Details:
· MUSC Children’s Health Pediatric Gastroenterology will launch our pediatric advanced endoscopy therapeutics service in 2025
· Join a collaborative team of 10 faculty physicians, 4 APPs, dieticians and nutritionists
· Dedicated procedure time with pediatric anesthesiology coverage
· Seeking to establish a Pediatric Pancreas Center to parallel our world renown MUSC (adult) Gastroenterology Pancreas Center of Excellence
· Inpatient-call for general pediatric gastroenterology consult service is equally shared amongst 8 of our Charleston-based pediatric gastroenterologists. Anticipate 6 weeks per year shared between 9 faculty in 2025.
