Requirements
  • Must be a licensed massage therapist in Tennessee.
  • Must meet all requirements of the Tennessee state board.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience as a massage therapist within the last 7 years.
  • Must have current knowledge of the subject being taught.
  • Must be able and willing to communicate, think, learn, and reason.
  • Must be able to use computers and computer systems, including hardware and software, to process transactions, store documents, enter data, or perform assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to safely ambulate and maneuver when on-site at company locations.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct assigned classes in classrooms, laboratories, clinical settings, and online settings.
  • Prepare for classes by organizing and becoming familiar with student materials.
  • Prepare lesson plans and course materials as required.
  • Objectively assess students’ academic performance.
  • Organize and present subject matter to students effectively.
  • Use instructional plans provided by the institution and supplement approved student materials as required.
  • Secure assessment tools and confidential documentation.
  • Use and monitor learning management systems.
  • Conduct classes for the required length of time.
  • Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and model professional conduct.
  • Provide regular, constructive feedback to students regarding academic performance, grades, professionalism, conduct, attendance, and other necessary topics.
  • Inform the Program Director of student attendance, academic, or behavioral concerns for retention management.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and attendance, including daily attendance recording and posting.
  • Facilitate tutoring and makeup work and monitor student participation.
  • Refer students to the Program Director or Academic Dean when additional advising is necessary or when students have more than three absences.
  • Remain in classrooms for all assigned instructional times and follow classroom break schedules.
  • Document relevant student contact in CampusNexus, including calling students during the first hour and making the first call.
  • Enforce campus policies, including dress code and cell phone usage policies.
  • Maintain records and scan documents as needed.
  • Stay informed about current instructional methodology standards.
  • Participate in and document faculty and professional development activities, including required Continuing Education Units for certification or licensure where required by law.
  • Attend workshops, seminars, orientations, staff meetings, and faculty meetings as scheduled.
  • Assist with and attend graduation ceremonies as requested.
  • Participate in student and campus activities, including nominations, field trips, and community activities, as requested.
  • Assist with inventory, organization, and ordering of supplies and classroom materials.
  • Maintain classrooms in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Assist with maintaining equipment and technology and report non-functioning equipment to the Program Director or Academic Dean.
  • Assist financial aid and administrative departments by providing information and coordinating appointments as needed.
  • Assist with student recognition as requested.
  • Assist with clinical or externship site visits and site development as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred.
  • Evidence of participation in workshops, in-service training, self-study courses, online and credited courses, regional and national meetings, and scholarly productivity is preferred.
