ARK buys Broadcom dip as Google's $12.2B Marvell warrant deal reshapes custom chip landscape

Google announced a custom-chip partnership with Marvell Technology that includes warrants to purchase up to $12.2 billion in Marvell stock. The deal sent Marvell shares up 10% to $237.27, whilst pressuring Broadcom, which fell in Wednesday trading. Broadcom steadied on Thursday at $364.14. The iShares Semiconductor ETF held flat, suggesting the selloff was Broadcom-specific rather than sector-wide. Intel and AMD each fell 1%. ARK Invest purchased 55,548 Broadcom shares during the dip. Broadcom's year-to-date gain of 5% trails Marvell's 180% surge. Broadcom CEO Hock Tan guided Q3 FY2026 AI semiconductor revenue to $16 billion, up over 200% year-on-year, and targeted more than $100 billion in AI semiconductor revenue for fiscal 2027.

Broadcom targets $100B AI chip revenue, eyes $3T market cap to rival Microsoft

Broadcom shares have risen 28% over the past year, outpacing Microsoft's 7% decline. The semiconductor company, currently valued at $1.9 trillion, could join Microsoft in the $3 trillion market cap club. Broadcom's growth is accelerating due to strong AI chip demand. Revenue in the first six months of fiscal 2026 increased 39% year-over-year to $41.5 billion. The company expects an 84% revenue jump in fiscal Q3 to $29.4 billion, driven by AI revenue surging over 200% to $16 billion. Looking ahead, Broadcom projects AI semiconductor revenue exceeding $100 billion in fiscal 2027. Long-term agreements with major tech firms including Anthropic, Meta Platforms, OpenAI, and Google will fuel this growth. The company plans to deploy over 3 gigawatts of AI computing capacity for Anthropic in 2027, up from 1 gigawatt this year.
