Requirements
  • 3-5+ years of experience in product management on a technically deep product such as payments, fintech, API platforms, or infrastructure.
  • A computer science degree or an equivalent technical background, such as prior experience as an engineer or analyst.
  • Experience with payments infrastructure, including card network flows, authorization and settlement lifecycles, or processor and gateway integrations.
  • Proficiency with SQL and the ability to independently pull, validate, and analyze your own data.
  • Ability to read an API schema, trace a webhook, and reason about idempotency, retries, and reconciliation.
  • Experience writing technical specifications and acceptance criteria for engineering teams.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve research, execution, and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently QA and validate work with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write precisely for engineers and concisely for executives.
  • Stakeholder management skills, including the ability to say no and explain the trade-off.
Responsibilities
  • Own the product roadmap for Seated's payments and platform systems, balancing business commitments, revenue impact, and engineering capacity.
  • Identify opportunities and scope the impact of issues through independent data analysis rather than only through inbound requests.
  • Translate requests from Sales, Restaurant Success, Operations, and Finance into scoped, prioritized product work.
  • Write specifications and acceptance criteria that engineers can build from without further translation.
  • Own specifications for payments and platform integrations across card networks, processors, and third-party vendors.
  • Evaluate vendors and own the build-versus-buy recommendation.
  • Own the monthly planning cycle from stakeholder intake through sizing to a committed plan.
  • Manage sprint execution, keep delivery status accurate, and hold the line on scope when priorities shift mid-cycle.
  • Own acceptance testing and verify behavior in staging before release.
  • Define success metrics and confirm that shipped features moved them.
  • Communicate progress, trade-offs, and slippage to leadership on a regular cadence.
  • Help build and scale the product management function over time.
Desired Qualifications
  • Direct experience with merchant matching, merchant identifier management, or card-linked offers.
  • Experience with billing, invoicing, or revenue systems.
  • Experience working on restaurant technology, marketplaces, or two-sided consumer platforms.
  • Experience partnering with a distributed or offshore engineering team.

Seated helps urban diners earn rewards by dining at local restaurants. It is a restaurant reservation platform that partners with over 2,000 handpicked eateries in major U.S. cities such as New York, Boston, Dallas, and Atlanta. Users can make reservations or walk in, upload their receipts, and receive up to 30% back in rewards within 24 hours. These rewards can be redeemed for instant credit at brands like Amazon, Uber, and Starbucks. The platform generates revenue by earning commissions from restaurants for reservations made through the app and by using transaction data to verify eligible purchases and ensure reward accuracy. This data is also shared with participating merchants to validate transactions. Seated aims to combine a seamless dining experience with financial incentives while supporting local businesses.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • The 2026 card-linked workflow removes receipt friction and increases repeat usage.
  • Seated's expanded city list signals active operator support and broader merchant inventory.
  • Rewards at local restaurants fit inflation-conscious urban diners seeking immediate value in 2026.

What critics are saying

  • Restaurant rewards are easy to copy; OpenTable, Resy, and card-linked offers can compress margins.
  • Seated depends on restaurant commissions; weaker dining volumes immediately reduce take-rate economics.
  • If major card networks or banks replicate its card-linking flow, Seated loses distribution leverage.

What makes Seated unique

  • Seated verifies visits by linked card, not receipt uploads, simplifying rewards tracking.
  • The app now spans Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, DC, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, Nashville, New York City, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Seattle.
  • Seated still offers up to 30% back and instant brand redemptions at Amazon, Uber, and Starbucks.
