- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Hold a current Indiana license as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
- Be able to read and write in English and communicate with residents, families, personnel, and support agencies.
- Be able to remain calm under stress.
- Be able to bend, lift, walk, grasp, perform fine hand coordination, distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures, and hear and respond to pages.
- Assist with direct supervision of resident care activities performed within the facility on a twenty-four-hour basis.
- Assist with coordinating nursing service activities with facility administration, community agencies, physicians, and families.
- Assist with nursing service compliance with facility policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations under the direction of the Director of Nursing and/or Administrator.
- Assist with developing and implementing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services.
- Assist with planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, directing, and managing the nursing services department under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services.
- Assist with planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining resident discharge procedures and plans.
- Participate in interviewing and screening residents for admission to the facility.
- Assist with promptly notifying each resident’s attending physician and family or responsible party of significant changes in the resident’s health status.
- Assist with developing work assignments for nursing services personnel based on residents’ specific nursing care needs.
- Experience or training in nursing services administration, rehabilitation, or geriatric nursing.
- One or more years of demonstrated ability in nursing administration and/or supervision in a health facility.
