Requirements
  • Bachelor degree or completed within 12 months of hire required

Responsibilities
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates the Hospital Wide Performance Improvement Program, Risk Management, Physician Quality and Infection Control
  • Directs activities related to quality and performance improvement and patient safety and risk management
  • Assures organizational cognizance of the standards of the Joint Commission on accreditation of Healthcare Organizations through developing hospital manual
  • Assists with activities related to risk activities at on a consulting basis, including coordination of the Medical Staff peer review process
  • Provides educational resources and consulting services to system entities in matters related to accreditation, quality improvement, outcomes measurement, medical education and medical staff issues
  • Manages Patient Safety in accordance with regulatory guidelines and reports to appropriate committees as mandated
  • Analyzes actual and potential claims/risks at as identified by the risk management activities/quality assurance process
  • Assures the highest degree of compliance to the incident reporting procedures
  • Investigates all equipment related incidents that result in a serious illness, serious injury or death and submits a report to the manufacturer and/ or FDA as required by the Safe Medical Devices Act
  • Completes interrogatories for attorneys, research medical records and interviews staff in order to validate compliance with policies and procedures and to gather information related to lawsuits
  • Accompanies investigators from state and federal agencies and arranges for meetings with staff and obtains documents requested
  • Ensures department staff are managed effectively, including hiring, evaluating performance and competency, and conducting disciplinary/counseling sessions as needed
  • Reports to assigned Leader
Desired Qualifications
  • Master degree in management, business administration, statistics or health related field preferred
  • Experience in health care quality management, including credentialing and JCAHO accreditation preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of CDC, OSHA, State licensure, JCAHO and Medicare recommendations and requirements preferred
