Requirements
  • The candidate must be a licensed Registered Nurse.
  • The candidate must have training and experience in quality or performance improvement, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
  • The candidate must have at least an Associate’s degree in nursing.
  • The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of standards, survey methodology, and tools and resources related to regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • The candidate must regularly access internal and external resources to maintain professional knowledge.
  • The candidate must work in concert with the Regional Quality Coordinator to implement the SCA strategic clinical-quality plan.
Responsibilities
  • Lead, facilitate, and advise the Center Quality Council and internal performance improvement teams.
  • Set the agenda and maintain meeting minutes.
  • Ensure mandatory and center-specific monthly and quarterly reports are reported to the Quality Council and Medical Executive Committee or Governing Body at least quarterly.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize medical record audit, infection control, hospital transfer and complication, patient safety, life safety, risk management, adverse drug reaction, cancellation, service satisfaction, center-specific quality indicator, and performance improvement data.
  • Provide strategic oversight of proactive and reactive patient safety activities, including root cause analysis, clinical practice guidelines, Sentinel Event Alerts, and identification and collection of center-specific quality indicators.
  • Review and revise the Performance Improvement Plan annually and prepare the annual Performance Improvement program report for the Medical Executive Committee or Governing Body.
  • Document all Performance Improvement activities and maintain records for at least three years.
  • Coordinate center policies, procedures, and processes to comply with applicable regulatory and accrediting agency standards and mandatory SCA corporate policies.
  • Work with the Administrator or designee to maintain current physician files, medical staff appointments and privileges, and compliance with credentialing policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the peer review process and aggregate individual peer review data for presentation and review by the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body at reappointment.
  • Work with the Administrator or designee to maintain complete and current human resources and education files for center employees and contract personnel.
  • Assess center compliance with accreditation standards and regulations in collaboration with leadership and staff.
  • Identify areas of vulnerability and direct the development of strategies to enhance compliance.
  • Provide direction to ensure clinical services are evidence-based and comply with state and federal regulations, applicable accreditation standards, and National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Educate and train leadership and staff regarding regulatory issues, new statutes and guidelines, and safety, quality, and performance improvement activities.
  • Maintain effective communication regarding center Safety, Quality, Performance Improvement, and Accreditation activities and seek consultation from the Regional Quality Coordinator or assigned Group Director as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Center Administrator.
