Requirements
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing leaves of absence, including the Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and state disability laws.
  • Strong understanding of human resources information systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the entire leave process, from initial request to return to work, for all types of employee leaves; review leave requests, determine eligibility, and communicate decisions to employees.
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local regulations and company policies regarding leaves of absence, including the Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, state disability laws, and paid time off policies.
  • Support the Workers' Compensation and Safety Manager in responding to inquiries on workers' compensation cases and unemployment inquiries.
  • Track and record workers' compensation cases and support completion of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration log.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees seeking information or assistance related to leave options, eligibility requirements, and application procedures, providing guidance throughout the leave process.
  • Collaborate with HR professionals, supervisors, and managers to coordinate leave accommodations, facilitate return-to-work processes, and address issues related to employee absences.
  • Communicate with vendors managing specific leave programs, including short-term and long-term disability insurance.
  • Monitor employees' leave usage, balances, and entitlements using HRIS or equivalent tools; generate reports and analyze data to identify trends, evaluate program effectiveness, and ensure compliance.
  • Work with HR and management to assess and implement reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities or medical conditions in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and other relevant laws.
  • Maintain open communication channels, respond promptly to inquiries, and provide personalized assistance to employees regarding leave.
  • Process leave requests promptly and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee leave records to support compliance, communication, and return-to-work transitions.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in leave administration, human resources, or a related field.
  • Certification in leave management, such as Certified Leave Management Specialist.
