Eliyan raises $145M at $1B valuation to solve AI chip data bottlenecks

Eliyan, a Santa Clara-based startup developing technology to reduce data transfer bottlenecks between AI chips, has raised $145 million at a $1 billion valuation. The Series C round was led by Seligman Ventures, with participation from Cisco Systems, Lumentum, and other investors. The company addresses a critical issue in AI computing: chips can process data much faster than they can send or receive it, leaving expensive hardware idle. CEO Ramin Farjadrad estimates only 30-40% of GPUs are being utilised due to data transfer limitations. Eliyan licenses its technology and provides chiplets that companies can integrate into custom processor designs. The startup expects initial chiplet shipments this year and projects hundreds of millions of dollars in sales by end-2027.

Cisco nears launch of AI models for networking ops with Cloud Control platform

Cisco is nearing the release of AI models designed to solve networking problems, alongside its Cloud Control agentic operations tool. Cloud Control aims to address console sprawl by creating a single AI-driven interface across Cisco's product portfolio. The tool will enable users to query their infrastructure and diagnose issues more quickly than current methods. Cisco's deep networking AI model "understands routing and switching configs" and will soon appear on Hugging Face. Cloud Control will become available to US customers by the end of August, included with existing Cisco products. The company is still finalising token pricing but will offer on-premises deployment options. European and Asia-Pacific launches will follow in coming months, delayed by infrastructure and regulatory requirements.

Cisco joins Open Source AI Cybersecurity Alliance and partners with Tech Mahindra on SSE

Cisco Systems has joined the Open Source AI Cybersecurity Alliance and partnered with Tech Mahindra to deliver an AI-driven Security Service Edge offering for global enterprises. The alliance focuses on developing shared tools and practices for securing AI systems. The Tech Mahindra partnership centres on Cisco Secure Access, combining multiple security tools into a cloud-native platform with AI-assisted protection. These moves position Cisco's security portfolio for companies seeking unified protection across distributed work environments. The initiatives target zero-trust access, secure cloud adoption, and governance of AI usage at scale. For investors, the partnerships demonstrate how Cisco is integrating its networking and security products with AI-driven use cases as enterprises adopt generative AI and AI agents across operations.

Cisco acquires Galileo to strengthen Splunk's AI observability capabilities

Cisco is acquiring Galileo, an AI observability specialist, to strengthen Splunk's position in the AI monitoring market. The deal is expected to close in July 2026. Galileo provides tools to evaluate AI output quality, detect errors before they reach users, and improve AI agent behaviour in production. The platform monitors hallucinations, bias, security risks and cost metrics across the entire agent development lifecycle, offering real-time observability for multi-agent systems. The acquisition will integrate Galileo into Splunk Observability Cloud, expanding existing AI agent monitoring capabilities. Galileo offers over 20 evaluation metrics including hallucination detection and supports major AI platforms like OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI and AWS Bedrock. Cisco and Galileo previously collaborated on Cisco's AGNTCY initiative. Both companies will operate independently until the deal closes.
