Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the university's mission by fostering the development of advising skills that support student retention and persistence.
  • Train newly hired Student Service Advisors and existing staff in advising strategies, customer service, student communication by email and phone, degree planning, consistent use of technological resources, at-risk student engagement and support, and university policies and procedures.
  • Lead the formalized advising performance quality initiative, including creation of evaluation rubrics for advisor-student interactions.
  • Assist with training related to new departmental technological advancements, including Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, and advising-related data.
  • Assist the Directors of Retention and Senior Director of Retention with guidance and support for Student Service Advisors handling complex, time-sensitive advising tasks.
  • Develop and maintain training materials for Student Service Advisors, including training manuals, complex student sample scenarios, multimedia training, and other resources within the departmental learning management system training course.
  • Provide virtual training for Student Service Advisors through scheduled webinars.
  • Establish an assessment process for training methodology and effectiveness.
  • Review new Standard Operating Procedures and train existing staff in procedural execution.
  • Collaborate directly with Office of Student Success leadership on assigned departmental projects.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree.
  • Two or more years of service as an academic advisor.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English speaking and writing proficiency.
