Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • 10 years’ experience in a law firm or in-house healthcare position
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance regulations and other aviation-related legal standards.
  • Experience in the medical air transport or air ambulance sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of HIPAA and AKS rules and regulations preferred
  • Experience in the healthcare or aviation industry preferred
  • Strong ethical foundation with a commitment to integrity, transparency, and confidentiality.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple complex issues simultaneously.
  • Proactive in identifying and addressing legal and compliance challenges before they escalate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state
  • Certification in compliance (e.g., Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional, CCEP) is a plus
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive compliance program tailored to the medical air transport industry, ensuring the organization adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Monitor and interpret relevant federal, state, and local regulations (including healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, FAA regulations, and transportation-related compliance) to ensure ongoing compliance across all operations.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee internal compliance audits and investigations, ensuring corrective actions are taken as needed to resolve any identified compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure all business operations (e.g., medical, aviation, billing, licensure, IT, etc.) comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain compliance training programs to educate employees on legal and ethical standards, regulatory changes, and best practices.
  • Report on compliance status to senior leadership and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and regulations, ensuring the company adapts to new legal requirements effectively.
