  • The candidate must be at least twenty-one years of age.
  • The candidate must satisfy one of the listed qualification pathways: a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in an accepted field; an Associate's degree or 60 semester credit hours plus three months of qualifying childcare experience; 21 months of qualifying childcare experience plus six semester hours or required training; or a current early childhood education professional credential at level II or higher.
  • The candidate must complete department-approved standard precautions training meeting current Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements before working with children, with annual renewal.
  • The candidate must complete building and physical premises safety training before working with children.
  • The candidate must complete department-approved child abuse prevention training within 30 calendar days of employment, with annual renewal.
  • The candidate must complete at least three clock hours of annual training focused on social-emotional development.
  • The candidate must complete at least 15 clock hours of ongoing training per year, excluding First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • The candidate must maintain First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification and recertification.
  • The position requires occasional lifting of 5 to 50 pounds and frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, kneeling, crawling, squatting, reaching, and sitting.
  • The position requires availability for a split shift during school contact days, Monday through Friday, with mandatory daytime meetings during the school year.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and guide children in the program.
  • Supervise and direct staff.
  • Assist the Program Manager in leading and managing daily program operations.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating programming and services.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Develop and promote positive community relations among community members and school clientele.
  • Coach, mentor, and direct others to meet program and department goals.
  • Ensure children's safety by providing sufficient and appropriate supervision and guidance at all times.
  • Use positive techniques to support and guide behavior and promote respectful and cooperative interactions among children.
  • Promote positive behavior and healthy peer relationships using strategies that support social-emotional development.
  • Assist the Director in demonstrating compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with families and other involved providers to understand the strengths and needs of all children, including highly impacted children, and develop strategies that enable safe and meaningful participation.
  • Plan and implement program activities that give children opportunities to learn and develop life skills, explore interests, experience self-worth and belonging, and contribute to the community.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
