Requirements
  • Demonstrates the ability to support the mission, vision and patient promise throughout all interactions the UT Health Way.
  • Demonstrates analytical thinking; this role requires analyzing information and using logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates creativity and alternative thinking; able to develop new ideas supportive of the UT Health Way.
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office and database programs.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and facilitates communication between primary care physicians and managed care plans, specialists, managed care operations, staff and patients regarding authorization for service and other insurance inquiries.
  • Schedules appointments, greets patients, and performs registration and check-in/out functions to include verifying insurance benefits.
  • Assists with patient exams, tests, and procedures.
  • Maintains various charts, records and databases of patient information.
  • Prepares correspondence, billing, and reports.
  • Provides authorizations, referrals and general clerical support in a patient care environment.
  • Trains and provides guidance to staff; provides staff relief on a regular basis.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
