Requirements
  • Be a trade-qualified mechanical tradesperson with electrical aptitude.
  • Be proficient in fault-finding electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Have experience in overall wind-farm operations and maintenance, installation, and heavy-lift main-component exchange.
  • Have intermediate computer skills.
  • Hold eligibility to work in Australia as an Australian permanent resident, Australian citizen, or New Zealand citizen.
  • Be able and willing to travel nationally or internationally for work and training as part of a three-weeks-on, one-week-off roster.
Responsibilities
  • Work within small hands-on work groups during on-site execution of main-component upgrade and uptower-repair work.
  • Execute main-component upgrade work as directed by the MCU Lead, involving major crane operations with GE MCU teams, local employees, third-party contractors, and crane vendors.
  • Inspect major parts to verify that they are undamaged and the correct type or configuration for the turbine.
  • Check and validate inventory, tooling, parts, and other items required during main-component upgrade operations.
  • Interpret GE manuals, specifications, bulletins, and work instructions and complete assigned tasks accordingly.
  • Complete required documentation for main-component upgrade and uptower-repair execution.
  • Collect data needed to complete reports on executed work.
  • Perform work in accordance with job safety analysis, lockout/tagout, environmental health and safety, and related policies and procedures.
  • Immediately report errors, violations, incidents, or problems through GE reporting systems.
  • Submit engineering enquiries to resolve technical issues and answer questions from management, engineering, sourcing, and project teams.
  • Make conformance or non-conformance decisions after inspections and report them to the MCU Lead, Field Project Manager, or CMS.
  • Work weekends and nights when required as part of the roster or as directed by management.
  • Perform high-voltage switching operations according to site procedures when required.
  • Follow applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures and report injuries, spills, near misses, and suspected violations.
  • Cooperate with GE investigations and environmental health and safety audits and report unsafe acts or conditions to management and environmental health and safety personnel.
  • Complete all required environmental health and safety training.

  • Have experience in the wind-farm industry.
  • Hold Global Wind Organisation or Global Wind Organisation Advanced Rescue Training qualifications.
  • Hold dogging, rigging, or Franna tickets.
  • Be able to complete physically demanding tasks at heights.
  • Have strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in an environment of changing priorities.
  • Have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement innovative solutions.
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Be able to work independently.

GE Vernova and Quanta Services are positioned as resilient stocks that could withstand market volatility, according to a new analysis. Both companies are benefiting from surging demand for electrical infrastructure driven by AI and data centre expansion. GE Vernova, spun off from General Electric in 2024, has seen its stock rise more than sixfold since debut. The company's backlog expanded 37% year over year to $176.3 billion at the end of Q2 2026, nearly four times its projected annual revenue of $46.2 billion. Quanta Services, an energy infrastructure builder, reported a backlog of $53.4 billion in Q2 2026, up 49% year over year. The company's revenue is projected to grow 39% in 2026. GE Vernova hires Rivian CFO Claire McDonough, leaving EV maker without clear successor

GE Vernova has hired Claire McDonough as CFO, effective 1 January, leaving electric vehicle maker Rivian to find her successor. McDonough joined Rivian in January 2021 and helped take the company public through a $13.7 billion IPO that November. She also negotiated Rivian's technology joint venture with Volkswagen, which agreed to invest up to $5.8 billion. Rivian shares fell more than 6% following the announcement, whilst GE Vernova shares declined about 3%. Analysts cited Rivian's lack of a clear succession plan as a factor weighing on its shares. Derek Mulvey, Rivian's VP of finance, is expected to serve as interim CFO after McDonough's departure. McDonough will join GE Vernova in November, succeeding Kenneth Parks, who is retiring.

SpaceX builds turbine foundry to break AI power bottleneck, cut GE Vernova wait times by 18 months

Elon Musk's SpaceX is building a foundry in Bastrop, Texas, to manufacture blades and vanes for industrial gas turbines, according to The Information. Musk confirmed the move on X, saying in-house casting could accelerate natural gas turbines coming online by up to 18 months. The initiative targets the same supply chain bottleneck GE Vernova has flagged to investors. GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik said the company pushed suppliers to add capacity in 2024, sometimes providing capital for new furnaces. GE is mostly sold out through 2030 and aims to increase annual turbine production from 20 gigawatts this year to 30 GW by decade's end. SpaceX has committed over $2.8 billion to gas turbines over three years to support its Colossus data centres near Memphis. The move addresses growing power demand from AI infrastructure expansion.

GE Vernova and LS Electric form JV to target South Korea's HVDC market

GE Vernova has formed a joint venture with LS Electric to strengthen its position in the high-voltage direct current sector. Announced at the CIGRE 2026 event in Paris, the partnership will focus on South Korea's voltage source converter-based HVDC projects, which are crucial for transmitting renewable energy from the southwestern region to greater Seoul.
