The role
Agile Six is looking for Fullstack Software Engineers for anticipated roles on our cross-functional agile teams. Our partners include: the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and others. Generally, our team looks for someone interested in and capable of working across the tech stack, and in using both front and back end languages and frameworks. Responsibilities

This role centers on crafting components and service APIs, using various frameworks and architectures to thoughtfully integrate advanced features. This is a hands-on coding role.
In this role, you’ll work with others to solve technical challenges, design effective solutions, troubleshoot production issues, and improve system performance. You’ll apply design patterns to support quality decisions and contribute to maintaining standards through code reviews, tools, testing strategies, and metrics.
You’ll apply your experience to make informed architectural decisions, using design patterns and best practices to maintain quality through code reviews and metrics. Your exposure to diverse systems will help you make effective choices for architecture and scalability, supporting smoother workflows and enhancing the development process.
We value teamwork and mentorship. In this role, you’ll support colleagues through code reviews and pair programming, helping to strengthen their skills and improve code quality. You’ll also communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams to foster a collaborative environment.

As part of the engineering team at Agile Six, support the practice of engineering within the organization as needed, through activities such as help with recruitment and hiring, code challenges, and participating in our community of practice.

Basic qualifications

Production experience with Ruby and/or React.js
Willingness to self-organize: to take ownership of assigning and managing your own work
Bias to action; you’ve proactively tried new things of your own volition
Pragmatic decision-making skills and the ability to weigh and navigate tradeoffs
A strong sense of experimentation, eagerness to innovate, and hypothesis-driven development approach
Experience leveraging AI tools and services such as Cursor AI, Sonnet, Cline, GitHub Copilot, and ChatGPT to write code more quickly, improve code quality, and understand and analyze existing code
A deep understanding of design patterns and software development principles and an ability to apply them effectively across various parts of the software stack, utilizing multiple languages and frameworks
You thrive in Agile environments, focusing on team success and embodying an Agile mindset throughout your work
You have lived and worked in the United States for 3 out of the last 5 years

Additional desired qualifications

Development experience in cloud environments like AWS or Azure
Experience with polyglot programming, using multiple languages, leveraging strengths of each language
Expertise in continuous integration and deployment systems such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
Familiarity with the U.S. Web Design System
Experience working with government agencies

Engineer I - $112,750
Engineer II - $119,931
Engineer III - $149,107
Engineer IV - $163,956
