Requirements
  • An associate degree from an AVMA-accredited institution and expected New York State licensure within three months.
  • Up to one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of people.
  • Flexibility.
  • Enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
  • Strong critical thinking and observational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Desire and willingness to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge.
Responsibilities
  • Provide care to patients according to hospital protocols and clinician orders.
  • Perform phlebotomy and intravenous and urinary catheter placement.
  • Administer medication accurately at the correct dilution and rate and via the correct route.
  • Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and following surgical or diagnostic procedures.
  • Properly use monitoring equipment such as pulse oximetry, electrocardiography, and non-invasive blood pressure monitors.
  • Advise, guide, and support Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students throughout the shift.
  • Continue to develop basic and advanced clinical skills.
