Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field and five years of power or utility engineering, electric line field work or supervision, electric transmission and distribution planning, utility field management, or related experience; alternatively, an associate's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field and seven years of such experience; or a high school diploma or equivalency degree and at least ten years of such experience.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn new computer software programs quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with customers, support staff, various levels of management, and union personnel.
  • The ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and circumstances.
  • The ability to simultaneously manage a variety of projects and assignments and meet deadlines.
  • A valid driver's license.
Responsibilities
  • Act as the Safety Champion for the assigned division and ensure the highest level of safe work practices.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and provide general supervision for the construction, operation, and maintenance of a safe, economical, and reliable electric transmission and distribution system within the assigned operating division.
  • Actively supervise the day-to-day activities of the division, spending approximately 70% of the time planning, supervising, and enhancing operations.
  • Manage service workers, maintenance crews, and division resources to achieve established Public Service Commission targets for outage frequency and duration.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints, coordinate customer service needs with other departments, and ensure customers are treated fairly and consistently.
  • Communicate with customers by phone, in writing, or in person regarding construction, operations, and maintenance.
  • Set clear performance expectations, communicate them effectively, provide leadership for the assigned division, and implement Electric Emergency and Gas Emergency response plans.
  • Complete assigned reports, goals, objectives, and special assignments on schedule through appropriate use of corporate assets and cost control.
  • Coordinate capital and expense annual work plans with the respective budgets and translate them into monthly and weekly plans.
  • Maintain a big-picture vision and provide leadership to keep divisional objectives and results aligned with group and corporate objectives.
  • Identify and implement process changes that foster continuous improvement in productivity and the development of individuals, work groups, and division performance.
  • Provide leadership and direction within the district as emergent issues arise and bring facility and security-related issues to the appropriate parties for resolution.
  • Participate in the company's emergency management processes and storm or emergency response, and provide support during restoration efforts.
