- Implement nutritional service delivery and sanitation in accordance with program policies and procedures, Head Start Program Performance Standards, and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensure children receive meals and snacks according to United States Department of Agriculture requirements and performance standards.
- Communicate with appropriate staff and parents regarding meal service.
- Order and maintain supplies needed for meal service.
- Adhere to classroom meal schedules and routines.
- Ensure the facility is clean and well maintained, including the kitchen and cafeteria areas.
- Monitor the kitchen and cafeteria for needed repairs and request work orders.
- Complete and maintain United States Department of Agriculture documentation and records accurately and on time as required by applicable regulations.
- Transport and/or receive meals from food service providers.
- Assist children with setting tables, serving food, and sanitary disposal of unused meals.
- Perform cleaning and sanitizing duties, including washing dishes, utensils, equipment, counters, cabinets, chairs, and tables; removing trash; sanitizing food preparation surfaces; and cleaning food storage appliances and equipment.
- Oversee and maintain inventory of food items, supplies, and materials.
- Monitor and record the temperatures of cold and hot food items to ensure they are served at appropriate temperatures.
- Prepare food, including accommodating children with modified diets and providing appropriate portion sizes.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT - April 2026. Article by: bryan conover, executive director. On behalf of Central Kentucky Community Action Council, I hope that you and your loved ones had a great Easter weekend and are looking forward to Spring. Central Kentucky Community Action Council, Incorporated is hard at work supporting the citizens of central Kentucky! Spring LIHEAP Subsidy will run from April 20th to May 22nd. Unlike its Winter Crisis component, LIHEAP Subsidy program does not require a potential client to be in a shut-off situation. If you know folks who are struggling to afford utility and housing costs, please have them contact their local CSBG office in their county. CKCAC is very excited to announce that Central Kentucky Community Action Council, Incorporated has received grant funding from Kentucky Housing Corporation to create an Affordable Housing Program for its area. The funding is limited, but Central Kentucky Community Action Council, Incorporated is excited to bring these resources to its communities and make meaningful impacts in folks' lives. Be on the lookout for more details in the coming months. State and Federal budget and policy decisions are something that Central Kentucky Community Action Council, Incorporated is monitoring closely. As Central Kentucky Community Action Council, Incorporated has concluded the budget session for Kentucky, CKCAC feels confident that Central Kentucky Community Action Council, Incorporated will be able to preserve its current programs, including Senior Congregate Meals and Non-Emergency Medicaid Transportation. From the Federal perspective, things are a bit murkier. The President's skinny budget continues to completely cut CSBG, LIHEAP, and Weatherization programs and the Administration's Office of Management and Budget has been delaying the release of funds that have already been appropriated for CSBG. Central Kentucky Community Action Council, Incorporated all need to work together to remind Congress of the importance of the work that CKCAC does with these funds as Central Kentucky Community Action Council, Incorporated move forward.
