Requirements

- CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained upon initial orientation.
- Basic training in health, safety, and nutrition must be completed within three months.
- A high school diploma or General Education Diploma is required.
- Three months of experience working directly with young children is required.

Responsibilities
- Plan and implement classroom environments and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children, including parent or guardian involvement.
- Work with Early Childhood and Education staff, volunteers, parents, and the director to plan and implement lessons and activities supporting the preschool curriculum.
- Supervise and monitor subordinates and maintain the preschool's security and facilities.
- Perform job-related duties ethically and professionally in accordance with the LCC Code of Ethics and the National Association for the Education of Young Children Code of Ethical Conduct and Stated Commitment.
- Assist with age-specific curriculum development, administration, and execution supporting the Institute's childcare resource services.
- Ensure appropriate classroom coverage when needed.
- Work with and monitor preschool children in the lab-learning environment.
- Maintain written reports and document and report children's health and other needs, including suspected child abuse, to the lead teacher or director.
- Monitor and maintain a clean and safe environment for children.
- Ensure rooms, toys, and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained.
- Help children change soiled clothing.
- Maintain attendance records, including breakfast, snack, and lunch counts, and activity records.
- Confer with parents and program participants by providing information, advice, problem-solving assistance, and follow-up on program delivery questions.
Desired Qualifications
- Six credit hours in Early Childhood Education are preferred.
