  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related field; master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in R&D and at least 5 years of experience in battery energy storage systems, with a focus on technology development and innovation.
  • Proven track record of leading R&D initiatives, technology evaluation and successfully bringing new technologies to market.
  • Deep understanding of battery chemistries, materials, and energy storage system architectures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive innovative solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in managing strategic partnerships and collaborations.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with Product Managers to develop and implement a strategic future Technology Roadmaps for emerging technologies in key components of BESS, aligning with the company’s vision and market trends.
  • Conduct technology scouting and horizon scanning to identify emerging trends, breakthroughs, and opportunities in the BESS industry.
  • Evaluate the potential impact of new technologies on current and future BESS products and solutions.
  • Lead the research and development efforts on Horizon 2 and 3 solutions focused on advanced battery chemistries, materials, power conversion, thermal management, safety technologies, and system architectures.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging creative problem-solving and experimentation within the R&D team.
  • Oversee the development and execution of proof-of-concept projects, prototypes, and pilot programs to validate new technologies.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with universities, research institutions, industry consortia, and technology providers.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering, product management, and business development teams, to integrate new technologies into product roadmaps.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, workshops, and technical forums to stay connected with the broader scientific and technological community.
  • Evaluate the feasibility, scalability, and commercialization potential of emerging BESS technologies.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the seamless integration of new technologies into existing and future BESS products.
  • Ensure that technology integration efforts meet performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness criteria.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments in the BESS industry.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on market intelligence and technology assessments.
  • Identify opportunities for differentiation and competitive advantage through technology innovation.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of researchers, engineers, and technologists focused on emerging BESS technologies.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the team.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
