  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in related system design and modeling roles, with a minimum of 5 years in similar roles
  • Strong background in software development life cycle
  • Experience with MATLAB
  • The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP)
Responsibilities
  • Develop and test algorithms following requirements in MATLAB to enhance Lightspeed system performance and reliability
  • Perform detailed performance analysis of the Lightspeed constellation in terms of data throughput, latency, satellite hand-over, availability, system capacity, and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with System Modeling, Software Development, Quality Assurance, and System Design teams for integration and testing of algorithms
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers in the System Modeling team
  • Interface with other Telesat teams regarding topics such as satellite payload and ground segment characteristics, definitions of performance metrics, performance evaluations, and regulatory compliance
  • Support trade-off analyses and system architecture evaluations
  • Write technical documentation
  • Follow Agile software development methodologies
  • Ensure code quality through unit testing, refactoring, and adherence to coding standards
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in agile development and CI/CD tools is desirable
  • Experience with cluster job managers is desirable
  • Knowledge of radio communication systems and/or satellite communication is desirable
  • Experience in mathematical optimization including linear programming is desirable
  • Fluent in English, written and oral; French is an asset
