Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, marketing or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Advanced-level experience in lending, compliance and underwriting in a financial institution.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations and compliance requirements specific to the financial industry and Farm Credit in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
  • Knowledge of farming operations and agriculture, along with basic accounting principles and procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit, loan processing, loan servicing or loan closing in a financial lending environment.
  • Leadership skills to select, evaluate, engage, motivate, mentor, train, delegate, reward and lead remote team members.
  • Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals, grow business and service all aspects of client needs.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, customer relationship management programs and client databases.
Responsibilities
  • Lead a group of Client Service team members who deliver a high-quality experience supporting the effective delivery of credit and financial products and services to current and prospective clients.
  • Directly oversee all team members within an assigned area of responsibility.
  • Hire, train, develop and reward a high-performing team.
  • Empower team members to make decisions within their roles and use critical-thinking skills to support the organization and clients.
  • Help establish and develop guidelines to ensure the team provides consistent, timely, thorough and responsive service to clients.
  • Assist leadership in defining team goals, provide clear expectations and feedback to team members, and monitor progress toward defined goals and objectives.
  • Create a positive work environment that leverages team members' talents and abilities to achieve organizational and team goals.
  • Collaborate with others to develop, nurture and service all aspects of the team relationship model within the assigned area of expertise.
  • Determine the impact of proposed operational and organizational changes and develop plans to optimize efficiency and coordinate activity with other departments.
  • Advocate and initiate changes to department policies and procedures to improve productivity and client satisfaction.
  • Manage change with direct reports and influence change with others outside the team.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of compliance and regulatory expectations for the business unit and ensure team members execute appropriately.
  • Provide direction to the team on related services for internal and external clients and third parties.
  • Coordinate and designate tasks to ensure reconciliation, reporting, and corrections or adjustments are completed, and monitor team-specific reports.
  • Execute changes and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Manage resources and performance-management functions for team members, communicate performance standards and development plans, and assess performance against standards.
  • Identify the need for conflict resolution and escalate operational issues.
  • Provide guidance and determine effective solutions for non-standard situations.
  • Coordinate office operations with other departments and functions.
  • Organize and conduct regular virtual and in-person team meetings.
  • Travel regularly to direct team members' office locations to remain up to date on team work.
  • Promote Compeer products and services.

So should insurers and agricultural lenders offer farmers that look after their soil a ‘good soil discount’?. While it’s generally understood that cover cropping, reduced tillage, and crop rotations benefit soil, these practices are by no means ubiquitous, not least because there are high upfront costs, the benefits don’t come overnight, and there are no immediate financial incentives, says soil health nonprofit Land Core.
