Big news at The Rose! * August 7, 2026 The Rose is thrilled to announce that Maria Wyckoff Boyce is stepping into the role of Board Chair for The Rose, a triple-negative breast cancer survivor and passionate advocate for health equity. A retired attorney and native Houstonian, she proudly has served on the board for three years and is excited to step into the Board Chair role and remains active in breast cancer advocacy. The Rose is also honored to introduce the newest members of its Board of Directors! These incredible women bring decades of expertise in healthcare, finance, oncology, and community advocacy to its mission: * Irene Helsinger: a respected healthcare executive and board leader with decades of experience driving strategic growth, organizational transformation, and leadership development. She has held executive roles at St. Luke's Episcopal Health System and Newport LLC and currently serves on the boards of several Houston-area nonprofit and community organizations. * Cindy de Moya, CPA: a retired healthcare finance executive with more than 40 years of leadership experience. Formerly Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Accounting Officer at Memorial Hermann Health System, she has built a distinguished career in financial strategy, governance, and community service. * Arlene Nazario, MD: a retired Medical Oncologist and Clinical Professor at MD Anderson Cancer Center who dedicated 24 years to advancing cancer care, medical education, and clinical research, with a focus on serving underserved communities. * Ellen Elam: a business leader, nonprofit advocate, and dedicated breast cancer champion whose leadership and volunteer service have made a lasting impact across Houston's cancer community. Project Mammogram and The Rose Breast Center of Excellence partner to save lives. * June 8, 2026 The Northeast Hospital Foundation's Project Mammogram and The Rose Breast Center of Excellence are announcing a new collaboration that will bring a dedicated Community Engagement Navigator and expanded mobile mammography services to Northeast Houston. May 27, 2026, Northeast Houston, TX - The Northeast Hospital Foundation's Project Mammogram and The Rose Breast Center of Excellence are proud to announce a new collaboration that represents a significant step forward in removing barriers to breast health care and ensuring more women have access to early detection services close to home. Through this collaboration: * A dedicated Community Engagement Navigator, Tracy Stewart, will serve Northeast Houston, helping women understand breast health, navigate screening and diagnostic services, and connect to available financial assistance. * Mobile mammography services will increase access to convenient, high-quality breast screenings at community locations throughout Project Mammogram's 26-zip code service area. The Community Engagement Navigator will focus on outreach, education, and direct support - meeting women where they are, whether through local businesses, churches, community events, or health fairs. By providing personalized guidance and education, the Navigator will help women overcome obstacles such as cost concerns, lack of information, scheduling challenges, and fear. "Early detection saves lives," said Tim Baker, President of the Northeast Hospital Foundation. "Through Project Mammogram's community investment and The Rose's CEN Engagement Navigator and mobile units, we're strengthening our on-the-ground ability to reach, support, and screen women where they live and work within our 26-zip code service area." In 2026, Project Mammogram is celebrating its 25th Anniversary and there is no better way to commemorate this milestone than through increased access to screening and diagnostic services. Project Mammogram provides lifesaving clinical breast exams, 3D screening and diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, excisional biopsies, breast MRI's and other breast related services as needed free of charge to low income, uninsured and underinsured women and men in the service area who qualify. To date, over 13,000 residents have been served, an average of 800 services are performed each year and an average of 4-12 cancers are diagnosed each year. The Rose Breast Center of Excellence is a nationally recognized leader in breast health care, providing state-of-the-art screening, diagnostic, and navigation services. Together, this collaboration ensures that women not only have access to screening - but also to guidance, support, and follow-through care when it matters most. Mobile mammography events and outreach opportunities will be announced throughout the year as part of this expanded effort.
